Here is what others thought
Just spent 2 nights at Nydie. Very impressed with the campsite. A warm welcome from the owners who couldn't do enough for you.
The views were beautiful and the washing/toilet facilities were very good.
We look forward to visiting again and seeing how the site has developed.
An ideal place for tenting with a family atmosphere as this has become so difficult to find in the St Andrews area recently.
When we arrived at this site we were welcomed by the owner who let us pick where to pitch our tent. Although we had not booked a pitch with electric hook up we asked if one was available. The owner was very accommodating and organised hook up for us.
The site is a large field, slightly sloped, but with fantastic views of St Andrews bay. There was ample room to exercise our boisterous dog, although there is no specific dog walking area. Even when more campers arrived on a Friday the site was still very spacious with plenty of room for children and dogs.
The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of outstanding beaches. A visit to Tentsmuir wood and beach is definitely recommended. A short walk from the site is the village of Strathkiness with a shop and a pub which allows dogs. In particular I would recommend the fish and chips from The Tails End which although expensive, were the best we have ever tasted.
Overall I would recommend this site for its friendliness and close proximity to St Andrews. In addition it is well placed to explore Fife and the Eastern coast of Scotland.

Just back from a two day break at this campsite and can say was very happy with it. Kids play park was 20 metres from tent so could see kids playing and a huge space for them to run about and play football or other games.
Shower room and toilets were clean and owner made sure there was plenty of toilet paper, hand towels ans soap so we never ran out. The little shop was well stocked and when I asked the owner if he had skewers for toasting marshmallows he very kindly loaned us some of his own.
We were also loaned a firepit so we could have a fire burning for kids which they loved. The views were stunning helped along by the great weather. The owners were very helpful and friendly they really made sure you enjoyed your stay. Will defo be back again at some point

Just returned from a 2 night break with 2 children and another family. Owners are very helpful and showed us to our pitch. Plenty of space between tents. Site is relatively new and badly needed in Fife as there are little or no sites that take large tents. Site is close to St Andrews, which has beautiful beaches, which is were we spent our Saturday. There are many other places to visit, like the small fishing villages, the secret bunker, St Andrews castle, St Andrews Sealife centre and of course loads of shops in St Andrews. Could do with more toilets at the other end of the site as it is a bit of a thought to trail to the toilet during the night or even during the day sometimes. Though I did speak to the owner on a visit to the site a week ago and they are talking of buying portaloos. They had hiring them for the Golf Open but they had gone when we arrived on Friday, which was a pity. All in all a good site, small shop, toilets/showers clean, football goals for the kids and a small playpark, no late night noise, everyone seemed to settle down by 12. So we are back next weekend with another 6 families, yippee, just hope we are a bit closer to the toilets and further away from the sheep. Vangogogo - Date of Visit: August 2010 - Unit: Tent
Being relatively new to camping with tents, we chose Nydie from the good reviews it had on this site. It was easy to find (with help from satnav) and seemed quite busy when we arrived at 7pm - mostly families with tents. We were surprised at how big the site was. The owner was extremely organised and helpful giving us pitches next to our friends who were due to arrive after us. We were also surprised at how big each pitch was and they were clearly marked bays. The toilet and shower blocks were spotless and continually being cleaned throughout the day. We found it a nice touch that there was bottles of creme soap at each sink and even a hair dryer and hair products. The kitchen area was brill, we were hoping for good facilities at the wash up area having small children. There was a compressor you could use to blow up beds if required, fairy liquid at each of the three sinks and electric points available for campers who did not manage to get a hook up. The play area was good: swings, slide and football goals. The weather was mixed so it was good that the site sloped, the rain did not create any problems at all. The view over to the sea is superb and the campsite has a lovely feeling of being in the middle of nowhere however, it is only a couple or three miles to Cupar, which had everything you need from a good playground to pubs and supermarkets. It was only a few miles to lovely St Andrews in the other direction. Apparently, the site has not been up and running for long so all credit to the owners (who were very nice people). Overall we would, and have recommended this campsite to others. BaznKev - Date of Visit: July 2010 - Unit: Tent
We stayed at the campsite during the Golf Open week, there were four of us in the party, three adults and a toddler. We were really impressed with the site. The owners were very organised and pre-allocated pitches which was a really good idea. They were very generous with the pitch sizes as well allocating every tent, regardless of size, a 10m x 10m size pitch. We had a largish tent and found we still had plenty of outside space. The toilet blocks were extremely clean, we noticed them being cleaned regularly throughout the day and never had to ask for more toilet roll, hand towels or soap. An added bonus was the parent and child shower facility which came in very handy and was a nice touch, this is the first campsite we've come across that had one. The only comment was they could do with a mirror in there though. The water was always warm which given the amount of people using them, was very good. They even arranged for extra portaloos and showers on the site to cope with the demand. The owners were really accommodating and used their own tumble drier to help out some of us rain-soaked visitors. The shop was handy to have and had basic rations that you would need but the site isn't far from St Andrew's so we tended to get most of our supplies from the Tesco or Morrisons in town. The site was a bit hilly and exposed and we had to leave a day early because of the 50mph winds but all in all we found it to be really well run, clean and would definitely recommend it to anybody wanting to camp in the area. We didn't go to the tavern down the road, but went out to Anstruther's Waterfront Restaurant based on a recommendation from Sue the owner. We pre-booked it as we thought it would be busy during the open. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there, the service was very good and the food lovely. We had their 'high tea' special, which was incredible value for £10 for a main meal, plus tea/coffee, toast, cakes and scones. Natasha88 - Date of Visit: July 2010 - Unit: Tent
Decided to go to this site just in case the weather turned bad and it wasn't far from home and stay 1 night. Stayed 2 days, plenty of space, arrived on a Saturday, site had around 15ish tents up. They all disappeared on Sunday and we virtually had the site to ourselves. Great views out to sea. Plenty of room for the kids. Basic but good showers etc. Plenty hot water. There is covered washing up area. Will be back for sure. There is a pub about 1 mile down the road, good food. F49h - Date of Visit: June 2010 - Unit: Tent
